Celebrating Excellence: Meet the 2026 Rams for Life Scholarship Winners!

As another incredible school year wraps up at Sir Wilfrid Laurier Secondary School, the Rams for Life Alumni Association is thrilled to announce the recipients of our 2026 scholarships.

Every year, we are blown away by the resilience, ambition, and community spirit of our graduating Rams. This year’s winners perfectly embody what it means to be a "Ram for Life"—turning challenges into triumphs and looking for ways to build a better, stronger community around them.

Please join us in celebrating Susan Anwari and Kingston Granger!

Susan Anwari: The Rams for Life Scholarship Recipient

Future Path: Corporate Law at Western University

Susan’s journey through high school is a powerful testament to the fact that growth is rarely a straight line. In her deeply moving essay, Susan opened up about navigating a period where her mental health declined to the point of failing a class. Instead of letting isolation pull her under, she used it as a turning point to redefine her mindset.

"I understood that it is not the situation that affects me, but what I do afterwards and how I choose to respond."

Susan rebuilt her focus through accountability and dedicated herself to giving back—volunteering as a tutor, stepping into leadership roles, and finding her voice to advocate for others. Now, as she prepares to head to Western University to study corporate law, she carries with her the values of discipline, communication, and adaptability cultivated right here at Laurier.

A Message of Thanks from Susan: In her thank-you letter to the Alumni Association, Susan reflected on a "chaotic and ecstatic" senior year. She shared how honored she feels to receive this funding, noting that the support gives her the confidence she needs as she steps onto a university campus. She looks forward to keeping the cycle of giving alive as an active alumni.

Kingston Granger: The Terry Williams Trades Scholarship Recipient

Future Path: Apprenticeship & Education to become a Licensed Electrician

At just 16 years old, Kingston has a clear-eyed vision for his future and an undeniable appreciation for the work that keeps our world moving. For Kingston, the trades aren't just jobs; they are the literal "backbone" of London's infrastructure. Inspired by his stepdad's hard work, Kingston is determined to enter the electrical trade to keep his family tradition strong and protect his community.

In his essay, Kingston highlighted how vital electricians are to everyday spaces we take for granted—like hospitals, schools, and grocery stores. He notes that as technology and AI continue to expand, the demand for skilled workers who understand power and safety rules will only rise.

"Choosing this career path will ensure I always stay with a job and contributing to society... I want to be part of the backbone that makes London safer."

Whether he is working for a local company or eventually launching his own business to boost the local economy, Kingston is driven by a quiet pride in doing critical work that keeps people safe and comfortable.

A Message of Thanks from Kingston: Kingston extended a sincere thank you to the Rams for Life members and donors for the $1,000 award. He mentioned that high school taught him the value of teamwork and dedication, and that knowing alumni are actively rooting for students like him is incredibly motivating. He hopes to one day pay it forward and support future trade students himself.

A Note to Our Incredible Alumni Network

To every member and donor who contributes to the Rams for Life Alumni Association: this is your impact in action. Because of your generosity, young leaders like Susan and Kingston can transition into post-secondary life knowing they have an entire family of Rams standing right behind them.

Let's wish Susan and Kingston the absolute best of luck in their next chapters! Once a Ram, always a Ram. 🐑✨
